As a brand Charlotte Tilbury is only three years old however it has fast become one of everyone's favourite make up brands and for good reason. Most of the products i have tried from the brand have been amazing and everyone always raves about them online. The iconic packaging is easily recognisable on Instagram and other social media platforms. I must say i haven't tried too many of the products because there isn't a counter close to me at the moment (there is one opening next month) but last time i was in Cardiff i stopped by their concession in John Lewis and picked up two lipsticks.
I have tried the lipsticks before but the Hot Lips collection really caught my eye. There are twelve different shades which were all created for a certain celebrity. All of them are part of the Matte Revolution formula which is an enriched formula to make it more comfortable on the lips. I have to say these are some of the easiest matte lipsticks to wear but they don't seem to wear as long as some more drying matte lipsticks. You just can't win, if you want something long lasting it is going to completely dry out your lips and something softer isn't going to wear as long but alas this is something we just have to deal with.
I bought two shades, Miranda May and Super Cindy. I originally went in to get the Kim Kardashian West shade but it is so pale that it would have made me look dead. I had set myself up for buying two so the lady showed me the nude shades and Super Cindy stood out to me. She tired it on me and from that minute i fell in love and it has to be one of my favourite lipsticks. It is a rose nude with a hint of brown to it but it is also quite a light nude. Paired with the Pillowtalk Lip Cheat it is an amazing lip combo and one i wear quite frequently when i'm looking for something easy.
Miranda May is a beautiful coral red but it isn't too bright which is what i love about it. It adds a little bit of warmth to the face and just makes you look healthy. I have been pairing this with MAC's Lasting Sensation Lip Liner which is a very similar shade. However i must admit i am less impressed with this one. The shade is beautiful however i just find it doesn't last very long at all. The formula of the lipsticks are very soft which is fine for a nude but if i am wearing a slightly bolder shade i want it to last a little bit longer. Even using the lip liner doesn't really help so i am at a loss as to what i can do. I wear this more during the daytime as at work i don't have time to be topping up my lipstick every hour so i have to wear it on my days off when i know i don't need it to last as long. As this was the colour i was expecting to buy i held bigger expectations for it and i can't help but feel a little let down. Of course i will still use it because the colour is amazing and this won't put me off buying more.
I purchased the lipsticks back in July, close to when they were launched and for the first two months a £1 from every lipstick went to help women's charity and i love a lipstick with a cause because it gives you the chance to help someone whilst feeding your make up addiction, it is a win-win. These lipsticks are £23 each which is pretty standard for a high end lipstick but at that price i think a little bit more of the money could have gone to charity when you consider the MAC Viva Glam range donates all of the proceeds excluding tax. I highly recommend going to your local counter and testing some of these lipsticks out because they are gorgeous and whilst your there have a look at the pillowtalk lip cheat, if you are a fan of lip liner it is a must have, if you are a noob like me it is the perfect entry level liner as it goes with everything!
Have you tried any of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks and what do you think of them?
