As excited as I am about attending Rachael & Kale's wedding and spending a long weekend in beautiful Sea Ranch with friends (only a little more than two weeks away!), I am almost equally stoked to see this owl cartoon with Kali, Michael & Alexis in San Francisco the Sunday after the wedding. We'll be spending the night in SF on Sunday (and maybe Monday) before heading back home, and obviously the fact that "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" (what an awful title) comes out that weekend is just plain DESTINY.
Kali & I quaked side-by-side at the first sight of the 3D preview we saw back in March before "Alice in Wonderland" (which was sub-par and NOT worth the $30 Kali shelled out for our 3D tickets...but the "Owls" trailer made up for it), collectively overtaken by chills for the full duration of the two-minute preview, and squealed like children about how much we couldn't wait to see it. A few weeks later, when Michael, Alexis, Darci & I went to see "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3D on my 4/20 birthday, I saw the preview again and was pretty much just as giddy, but with a whole new set of excited friends. Watch the trailer down below...
"How to Train Your Dragon" was incredible (even Michael, who hates "baby shit," considers it among the best films he's seen all year), with better use of 3D than "Avatar" given its crisp detail and lack of nauseating camera angles that made for a breathtaking experience...it was actually like flying on the back of a dragon through the sky. $13 bucks for dragon rides? That's just good math!
So while the highlight of our weekend in California will certainly be the glorious wedding festivities in Sea Ranch, I must say I won't be sad to leave our beach house and head south to the city, where we'll get to ride with the Owls of Ga'Hoole on their journey home. "We're halfway there!!!"
